3D PRINTER MAINTENANCE TIPS
After completing your 3D print, avoid removing the filament immediately if the printer will be idle for some time.
Why shouldn't you remove the filament right after printing?
A small amount of material always remains in the hotend and nozzle. If removed cold, it may solidify and create a clog. When the printer is used again, this could cause extrusion issues.
How to avoid clogs?
Before loading a new filament, reheat the nozzle to 210 °C (for PLA), push slightly to expel the leftover plug, and then insert the new filament. This helps prevent color mixing and clogging, especially if switching from highly pigmented filaments.
Note: If the new filament requires a lower temperature, initially use the higher temperature of the previous material to clean out residuals. Then lower the temp as needed.
For optimal maintenance, use cleaning filament regularly to keep your hotend in perfect shape.
